ABOUT US
Commoviecator 2026 is an international short film competition hosted by the Television and Film Student Association under Epicentrum, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. Emphasizing cinema as a medium for social and psychological expression, Commoviecator 2026 explores the power of audiovisual storytelling. Here, film transcends art; it serves as a vital communication tool that portrays the complexities of trauma and its intergenerational legacy through compelling visual narratives and emotional resonance.
THIS YEAR THEME
Cinema as Strategic Storytelling to Portray Psychological Trauma Across Generations
The theme 'Cinema as Strategic Storytelling to Portray Psychological Trauma Across Generations' invites participants to view film as a storytelling medium capable of conveying psychological trauma with depth and relevance. Many young people grow up with emotional wounds that do not emerge in isolation; rather, they stem from misguided upbringing by the adults around them, be it parents, teachers, or other authority figures. Through this competition, participants are encouraged to explore how such trauma is formed, inherited, and how it shapes one’s perception of self and environment. The resulting films are expected to not only resonate emotionally but also create a space for reflection, raising awareness about the importance of healthy child-rearing and serving as a first step toward breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma.
