Participants are required to develop a structured Communication Planning Proposal supported by research, data analysis, and creative strategy. This year, Ideation highlights communication not only as a tool for awareness, but as a system of protection that enables early prevention, safe disclosure, and community-based safeguarding.

THIS YEAR THEME

Safeguarding Vulnerable Children from OCSEA in Southeast Asia

Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) is a growing issue in Southeast Asia, driven not only by digital technology, but by children’s vulnerability and limited protection systems. Many children face online risks without safe spaces to speak up, trusted adults, or clear reporting pathways, causing exploitation to remain hidden and recurring. OCSEA encompasses various forms of sexual abuse and exploitation facilitated by online platforms, often targeting children with unmet needs for safety, support, and protection. Through this sub-theme, Ideation 2026 promotes safeguarding as a solution by encouraging participants to design communication strategies that strengthen prevention, early detection, and protection systems, translating communication ideas into practical safeguards for vulnerable children.
